Women’s Shootout 26

Yesterday’s second annual ladies shootout got off to a bit of a rough start with a few technical difficulties. I apologize for that — I inadvertently slipped off my meds for two days. The ladies were patient, good spirited, and very understanding. They battled through my hiccups amazingly well.

Locally, Marjorie Carter, Ingrid Cline, and Cindy Tyerman had their hands full with the talent from up Island. And understandably, I think I might have too. Those ladies — led by Avy Kalugin, Deb Williams, and Tracy Cross — crushed the rest of the field.

I would like to thank Dana, Mark, and Matt of the Black Swan Pub for graciously allowing us to play at their venue. As well, to Scott Zachow and Zac Cues for offering up a cue for the raffle — we raised about $140 to put towards the prize money. Your craftsmanship with building cues is second to none. Thank you!!!

Also, I would like to thank WolfpackSportz.com for their continued support and help. Deepak ran the tournament at the Black Swan yesterday and we really appreciate his time and efforts.

To Discovery Honda, Duncan Nissan, and Island GM — we appreciate all of your wonderful donations.

Many thanks also go out to Ingrid Cline for offering up a one-hour massage, Jason Bonner for donating a cue case, James Street Billiards for their $50 voucher, and Society Barber Shop for a free haircut.

Now for the winners:
1st place: Tracy Cross — $420.00
2nd place: Avy Kalugin — $275.00
3rd place: Deb Williams — $150.00, plus a voucher for one pair of fuzzy socks
4th place: Cindy Tyerman — finished just out of the money

The Zac cue was won by Jason “Bourne” Bonner — he pulled his own name in front of all those ladies. Shame on you, Jason. lol

All of these ladies shot amazingly well — the level of skill on display was remarkably high. I was very impressed with Deb “Fuzzy Socks” Williams, Avy Kalugin, and especially Tracy Cross. Her choice of taking the right shot at the right time carried her through most of her matches. I was thoroughly impressed, as were others watching.

And lastly, to Jason Bonner — for being my right-hand man yesterday, and for being there to support the players and our venue. You are a world-class person with a ton of respect for the game and your peers. We love having you on board.

Thank you also to everyone who tuned in and supported us yesterday. It was simply amazing.

Today we have no ladies in the tournament — we have men coming from Victoria all the way up to Parksville. We could have between 16 and 20 players today. Looking forward to shooting some stick with those boys.
